Default Greetings

Hello everyone,

My name is Ken, and I live in Clearwater, Florida.

In a nutshell...I was a long time aquarium enthusiast in the mid 70's to the early 80's... then i was off to College...and due to "life" got out of the hobby.
I have recently purchased a 55 gallon aquarium from one of the fellas at work for 65 bucks...and am excited about it's set up. I have been reading up on everything, and am amazed on how far this hobby has progressed.... pretty confusing at times, but understandable.

Here is a pic of the aquarium... cleaned & leak tested.

Here it is in it's new "home". All level.

The set up came with the stand and hood, an undergravel filter, 2 powerheads, 200w Penn Plax Heater, and a variety of plastic plants.

Currently, I decided to avoid the UG filter, and purchased the Emperor 400 Bio Wheel filter.
On the 23rd I finally decided on substrate, an overall goal of the tank, and filled it without incident.

I will be discussing it on the appropriate thread.

I look forward to your ideas, advice, experiences, pics, and stories related to this unique and exciting hobby.

Happy Holidays . Thanks for allowing me to be a part of the community here, and again...

Welcome back to the hobby, Ken...and welcome to FF. It is good you decided on the E-400 filter instead of the UGF. I have several E-400s that have been running flawlessly for almost 8 years now. I suppose I should start replacing them soon, but they are a good filter. What fish are you interested in?
Keep us posted on your progress and come visit in chat sometime.
