Default Hey! Setting up a new aquarium

Hey,
So I am new to this forum or any forum for that matter. I am 22, live in Canada and I love animals.
I have a dog and two mice and I just got a very tiny fish tank to start myself off with. My parents have had many aquariums over the years but I have never been allowed to help them care for the fish or clean or test or anything like that. I once got to pick out some new fish but thats about it. I am very excited to finally start my own tank.
I need some tips and suggestions though so maybe some of you could help me. I have a 1.5 gallon tank and I haven't set up ANYTHING yet. No water, no plants I havent't even got any gravel yet. What type of filter should I get? What plants should I put into it? And most importantly what kind of fish should I house in the aquarium? I was thinking maybe some rainbow tetras or a few mollies? I don't know, any help is appreciated. Thanks so much!
