Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself around here.
My name is Sarah, and my husband and I are fairly new to the aquarium world, and we are fully learning what an extensive hobby this is becoming. Despite our numerous mistakes, we are thoroughly enjoying ourselves, though. I'll briefly describe our 2 current tanks: 1) 55 gallon: Let me make a brief disclaimer saying that we have done just about EVERYTHING wrong that's possible with this tank, but we've learned, and it's doing beautifully. We've had it for about 3 months now, and here's what we have: 3 dalmation mollies, 6 guppies, 2 bala sharks, 2 angels, 1 beta, 3 snails, 1 pleco, and (I know everyone will cringe at this) 2 goldfish. About the goldfish - we've had these 2 feeder fish for 2.5 years now, and they started in a bowl, where they lived for a long time. We decided to upgrade to a 10 gal, but that was too small for my hubby, so he got the big bad 55 gal. We added tropical fish before we knew that they shouldn't go together, but let me tell you, they are all doing beautifully. We test the water very frequently and do frequent water changes and everyone is happy. 2) 38 gallon: 1 convict cichlid, 5 turquoise jewel cichlids, and 1 bumblebee cichlid, and 1 snail. We recently had a TERRIBLE case of ich in this tank, and it wiped out half of the fish that we had. But now we know exactly what ich is, and hopefully we will catch it sooner if it comes back. 4 of the jewel cichlids are new babies that we've added after our ich treatment, and so far so good. So those are my tanks, and I look forward to discussing all of my joys and problems along the way! Sarah |

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm so excited about my new fish hobby. I've always had cats and dogs and turtles and guinea pigs, etc., and I never realized how much fun fish are.
