Default Hello Everyone

I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone on the online forum. My name is Shawn and I have been keeping goldfish now for several months. I just recently started keeping tropical fish and once had them when I was a kid. All of my tanks and fish are listed in my signature and I hope to add some knowledge and take plenty of advice as well.

Welcome!
You may want to rethink your 30 gallon ghost knives with grow way too big for it and should be in a tank of about 75 gallons and the redtailed sharks should only have 1 per tank because they grow up to hate each other and grow extremely agressive.

With your 55g you may want to rethink also tropical fish and goldfish shouldnt be mixed goldfish require cold water and plecos and khuli loaches require warm tropical waters, the dojos can live in either or.

I thought that too about the kuhli and pleco, but I talked to several people first that had them with goldfish and they reported success. I have a heater in the goldfish tank, but I keep the temperature at 70-72 since goldfish like it from trom 68-75. I have had the plecos and kuhli in there with them for months with no problems so I see no need to move them.

With the knife I am intending to get a 75G tank sometime in the next year for when he gets too big for the 29G.

What about the sharks? These forums help people research the fish before you get them you should look into keeping redtailed sharks.

Well, to be honest I didn't know much about the sharks so I talked to a guy that kept Tiger Barbs and he said they go great with barbs just keep the shark number to less than 5, so I got 3. They are only about 1-1.5" a piece. Are you saying I should get two of them out of there?

After a while yes they grow 8"s or so and they get extremely agressive and intolerant of their own species. They also need a minimum of 55gallons per fish.

Yes plan on taking two out. http://www.fishlore.com/Profiles-RedTailShark.htm
With less than huge tanks, 1 to a tank is recommended.

That site says they need a minimum of 10gallons which is too small for them to even turn around in.

an 8 inch red tail shark? I don't think so....6 inches, max.

either way, I would take out 2 of the sharks. At the lfs I work at, they are always chasing eachother, and they are only 2 inches long.

question...in the 75 gallon...what are purple pinchers, and whatever else is in it?

I keep land hermit crabs in my 75 gallon tank. I have been keeping them for about 3.5 years now and some of them I have had since I started. Purple Pinchers are found in the Caribbean and Southern Florida, Ecuadorians are found from Baja California to Chile, and the Strawberries are found in Indonesia and Australia.
