Thanks! This forum, by far, IMO has the most information about Aros.

Well, I'm upgrading to a 55gal from a 20gal tank.
I'm getting the 55 in a couple of days for $80 (includes
filter and other things). Since my Aro is still young,
maybe a couple months old (about 5in), I'm thinking
ahead time and getting the 55gal just for it. In future,
I'm going to have to upgrade to a bigger size tank since
Aro's grow fast (I've heard about 2in a month?). My Bettas
now are in their own little tanks (I think they were 2gal-3gal).
My 30-some Guppies are in a 10gal tank. Happy as can be!
Electricity bill this month was $700 though.. >_>

Yeah, I know it wasn't just the tanks. :P
But whats the ideal tank size for perfect growth?
I've fallen in love with the Aro eversince a buddy
of mine introduced them to me.

You need to find that lady who flused koi fry down the sewer. Koi fry are the tradional (last 10 years or so) Japanese food of the arrowana.

As Mike and OB said, you need a 300 gallon for that aro, and fairly soon, or things will be grim.

Start saving a few months ago.

Its generally recomended, and what I mean by this it is absolutely necessary and intelligent to purchase the proper tank BEFORE purchasing a fish.

I would recommend returning the Aro until you can provide a proper environment.

im assuming you have a silver aro. which are prone to eye problems due to several factors, water quality being one of them. this fish should be in a large tank to begin with, and fed proper foods. may be ok in teh 55 for a couple months, then a 125 for a couple months, but a minimum of a 300 gallon for this fish by the end of this year will be neccessary to house it properly.
