Default hello!!

hello all! so im a first time fish owner,im loving it so far kinda mad that the fish store forgot to tell me tiger barbs are bullies if they are in small packs so now my new platinum green barb is getting beat up on alot and im not sure what to do.i have 2 barbs(1 blushing tiger barb.,1 platinum green tiger barb) ,2 albino buenos aires tetras ,and one un known little orange and black dood.this is a 29 gallon tank and things are good so far except the poor little green one is not looking to good from being chased none stop for a couple hours now.well im told not to get more than 5 for now just to be safe....so ill stick with these guys for now if they all life, maybe get a pleco when the tank is ready.what should i do about this tiger barb being a bully???

Hello and welcome! if it were me, Id call the store you bought them at and see if you can return the green barb and get a few more tigers.. You really need at least 6 tigers to keep them to a tolerable mood

Don't assume the people at the store know their stuff. You just can't trust that the person who is working has any experience or has done any reading. Do your own research. Then if you meet a knowledgeable person in a shop you will be able to tell.

Never rely on a fish or pet store to tell you what's best. They're there to make money. And hey, if your fish get killed, you'll be back to buy more! That's how it works

yeah......the guy that sold us those barbs was vary well read in all fish stuff, but it was the 10 mins from closing and seemed like he just wanted us out(thats the son of the owner, slacker lol) so today i talked to the owner and brought back both barbs.......instead we got black tetras, everything is great so far.i got 5 so they can school together iv been contantly reading up for a while now and am learning alot. so now i have 2 albino buenos aires tetras,5 black skirt tetras, and 1 swordtail. our tank is good, they tested at the shop.our temp is steady at 78-80 degrees will these fish get along?

yup....stores like to leave out important details on fish....i learned that a long time ago with "freshwater" snowflake morays. Doing your own research is much more reliable.
