Noob here

Hello everyone! My name is Michael and I live in Arkansas. I'm 26 years old and I just bought my first tank 2 days ago. It's actually for my girlfriend's daughter but I thought it might be a good hobby for me. The tank is a 55 gallon and I'm trying to figure it all out. My friend is holding a couple of weather loaches for me until my tank gets stabalized. I came here to ask a few questions that I'm not sure about, but I'll put those in the proper place.
