This is very true, but the pet stores around here no nothing about animals, nor do they take care of their own animals. For this reason, i was able to keep mine open, because people will see that you have a love for animals and they trust in you cuz they know your animals are healthy. The worst part of the year in the summer months. During these months, people are out on vacatins, or outside doing whatever and they seem to forget they own an animal. But, i live right next to lake cumberland, so i get alot of out of town traffic, they comes in to buy dog stuff, water toys, dog grooming, and soo on.

Well, the position of hte pet store is very crucial. Thankfully, i got it before others did, and ive put the 2 other pet stores out of business because they suck at hte business. Like for instance, a place called Fish 'N Friends went out of business because people found out they were feeding KITTENS to their 12 foot burmese. So, poeple got very angry, starting coming to my store. I myself, feed our 10ft snakes frozen Colossal rats.

Yes it is a very hard job. I work 7 days a week, 11am-7pm sometimes later to finish water changes on my 80+ fish tanks and to put up stock. You jsut have to know what sells in your area.

well the thing is... it already is my job. I work at petsmart and am in the speciality department which means a lot of cleaning feeding algae scrubbing and all that dirty work. I still love my job by all means... and the store is still very much in the planning stages, heck if I find a decent job I might just open one when I retire hahah

Yes, it's your paid job. Things will be different when your ability to pay your cable bill will suddenly depend on whether you can sell or cure that sick Sultan Pleco that came in thursday before it dies. It will be different when the jerk across town runs a super sale and fills the tanks of all your customers with cheap fish which won't need replacing for several months. It will be different when a heat wave causes an ich plague in your store which wipes out half your stock before you know what hit you. It will be different when the ... well, I guess I can stop here because the list is endless. The thing REALLY is that right now none of these things are YOUR problem.

if you are serious, let me know. i can help you out since ive been in business for 7 years and going strong. Its that first year that tells if you make it or not, and by the second year, word starts to spread. If you really wanna make it happen, you will have to provide something that no other pet store around you has. Like to instance, i do not cage any of our animals except birds, mice and hampsters. These are keep in aquariums. I built small 4x4 rooms for the dogs to be in and the same for cats.

i just like the idea of putting pure oxygen in with the fish. THats the way my dist. does it and i like it. I havent really dealt with breather bags, it could be a better way. Got a pic or a detailed info sheet on them??
