Default Newbie to ALL types of fish keeping

I am very new to all of this. I am starting with a 36 gallen bowfront. I am in the process of modifying the stand because it is not deep enough, so I am adding a 2x4 to the back. I am taking it VERY slow even on the setup part, which has actually saved me a couple of time (like an aquarium stand that is to narrow).

Equipment So Far:
-Aqueon 36 gallon Bowfront
-Eheim Pro3 G90 2073 canister filter
-(2) hydor 750 powerheads (I think I only going to use one of them)
-200 watt heater

Equipment still to purchase:
-Marineland Reef Capable LED with timer 24-36
-Digital Thermometer
-API saltwater master test kit
-Sallinity Refractometer
-Magnet scubber

Live Stock to get:
- 40-60 lb Live Rock
- 40-60 lb Live Sand

Then I wait.....

ANY SUGGESTS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED

first of all, welcome to the forum! theres a few people who know saltwater pretty good here that have also been helping me with my saltwater tanks. alot of us here know everything about freshwater but theres not a whole lot of saltwater fish keepers here. but dont let that scare you off because the people who do know saltwater KNOW saltwater...

as for the stand i build alot and i mean alot of fish tank stands. i sell them local in my area.

easiest way to do it is pretty much make a square box of 2x4 or 4x4 then put 2 2x4 or 4x4 in the center going the long way to the floor then your pretty much done slap a top and some sides on there and its good to go! iv had great luck using pine to build stands as well. and for the smaller tanks like yours you could get away with a all pine stand. but 2x4 is your best bet its cheap and easy to work with.

anyways good luck with it and if you have any problems or questions feel free to ask any of us. alot of us can help out alot. even if its dumb questions. a girl just asked us if a fish had warms because of the way fish poop. i dont even consider that a dumb question because the only dumb ones are the ones that go unanswered.

(sorry girl with the question about how they poop, had to use you as an example! lol)

Nice start bud. That Marineland led is spendy. You can find more effective lights for similar prices. Check these out:
