Default Hello all!

Heya! My name is Aidan and I am knew to the fish world!

I was hoping to stock a tank full of the fish listed in my siggy (which is why I joined this site), but that current tank idea may not be a good idea, so if you want to give me advice on it then I shall graciously accept the offer.

Anyway, yeah, it's great to be here. :-p Haha.

How do you plan to get small med large angels? They are all going to get large one day. Also the guppie ratio is way way off. You need 3 females per male. Otherwise the females will be so stressed iv even heard of them jumping out just to escape the males. Also any fry you get from the guppies will quickly be ate by the angels. Now last but not least. All your fish will become tasty snakes for the two turtles. Exp. the angels, they will be the first to be in the crosshairs for the turtles. I never in a million years am going to recomend anyone putting fish with a turtle. Even your frogs would be a snack until every fish gets ate by them.

Goodluck.

Well, I know that they are all going to get large one day, but the online pet store (aquaticstoyourdoor.co.uk) had them in sections of how big they were, so I just went from that, lol.

And wow, really? I had no idea about that... but I will go and change my basket thing on the website now.

And I had seen that advice for the Turtles elsewhere, actually, but others quickly pointed out that the Guppies would be able to escape from the turtles... However, if you are certain that this will be the case, then I will have to re-consider my stocking list or be certain that the type of turtles that I get won't eat the fish or be able to catch them (if this is possible, however, I am certain that it is).

Thanks for the well wishes and for your great response. :x

Yeah turtles not a great idea. They be able to live together for a bit, but they will eventually be eaten.

Sorry I wasn't trying to sound rude but iv heard and time to time see people wondering where there fish are going with turtles in the tank. No matter what kind you get they all will eat your fish. Your stocking list is great this far minus the turtles. Or minus the fish. One or the other not both..

Anyways the fry from all the guppies will be great for the Angels and the guppies. So my advise is a few more female guppies remove the turtles and get 5 small angels. No need to buy the large ones because they grow so fast so save yourself a few bucks. And if you want turtles please don't put them with fish.

Hello and welcome to FF!

We have one member is successfully keeping turtles with fish. I strongly believe this is the exception to the rule and would not recommend it. It is simply worth noting that it has been done. Of course any fish he puts in there is a fish he is willing to loose LOL.

As for your frogs- Be prepared to hand feed them. You have to put the food right in front of their faces for them to take it. They are pretty much just blind. If you only feed the tank and don't put food in direct line with the frogs they will die of starvation. I am pretty sure they make sticks/wands you can use to feed frogs but I am not positive.

Definitely change up your ratio of guppies. 3 females to 1 male would be best, if you want you could go lower on the males and higher on the females. OR you could go with what is my choice when it comes to guppies: All males. They are gorgeous and won't overpopulate a tank in a month.

The guppies may fall prey to your angels as they grow. Those flowing fins are quite attractive to the angels. You can do it but I wouldn't be putting prize guppies in there.

ZebraDanio12 - Thanks for the advice. I shall keep that in mind.

Cory1990 - Lol, no problem... I didn't think that you came across as rude at all, though. And I have changed it up a bit since my last post, taking yours into account, so I shall post that below. Also, that's interesting to hear, so please see my edited list. Thanks for the kind words and advice!

Obsidian - Heya and Thanks for the welcome! And one? Wow, the survival chances must be low then. And LOL, yeah, I am certainly not like that... i'd burst into tears at even one fish falling prey to another...

And that's fine, I am more than prepared to do that. There used to be frogs underneath the Decking in my garden outside, and I kept them as pets a few years ago, when I was like 7. I must have forgotten to put air holes in the boxes that I kept them in, though. Whoops. ;\

And I think that I will lower the males and higher the females in numbers... because I would like to breed them and possibly get some hybrids. I am a sucker for nice colours on an animal, haha.

And Hmm... I think that I would like to keep both of they fish species, but I wouldn't be willing to sacrafise any lives for it, lol.

Please take a look at my updated list below.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

80 Gal Tank:
- 2 Musk Turtles.

20 Gal Tank:
- 5 Small Angelfish
- 5 Male Guppies
- 9 Female Guppies
- 2 Aquarium Frogs.

10 Gal Tank:
- Use as a Quarantine Tank/Use to Separate fish from each other where necessary.

------

Does that sound like a good combination?

Take out the angels. Angels can grow to the size of your hand and they would be crammed in that little of tank! The rest is okay though. If you'd like a bigger fish that won't out grow the tank try dwarf cichlids. You can see what I have in my 20 in my sig.

Personally I'd use the big tank for fish, but thats my preference sense I'm not a turtle person. But my sister would be all for turtles. She wants one so bad.

Obsidian he's not successful keeping them together... He lives somewhere that fish cost pennies. So he just adds new fish. They still get ate all the time.

I think he said that only the shrimp and some other type of fish that was white got eaten by his turtles. It just depends if you want to do a fish tank, or a turtle tank, and how expensive fish are where you live. If you really just want to have some turtles and don't care much for the fish I would go for it, but change the stocking list so that the fish could live happily in case the turtles don't eat them.

ZebraDanio12 - Right, then I could swap the Turtles around with the Angelfish, and find something different to go with the angelfish... Then the turtles could go in the 20g and the guppies can go in the 10g... How does that sound? Also, do you have any recommendations for what could go with the Angelfish and what could go with the Guppies? Thanks! :x

BettaGuy - Thanks for the advice... that has been changed above my reply to you in my reply to ZebraDanio12. Thanks again! :D

With the angelfish I think you can put anything that can't fit in their mouths and has the same water parameter requirements as them. The fish should also not be agressive or nip fins as angles have beautiful long fins.

While they are small lots of things, but that doesn't last forever. My neighbors have a 55 gal tank that I take care of ever now and then (doing it next week) They have 3 angels in with silver dollars, tiger barbs, a single zebra danio, plecos, barbs, and a few other assorted tetras. Maybe that can give you an idea. The silver dollars are really skittish. When I go to turn the lights on the run into everything.

What I would put in the tank is dwarf cichlids. They are my favorites, and I always suggest them. Look in my sig, it says what I have.

With guppies, you can do just about anything. Tetras, other live bearers, khulie loaches, anything small. Over stocking a 10 gal is very easy so I sugest going easy on the guppies as they will multiply...I had guppies for a couple months and had over 100 babies. I suggest starting with 2 males and 5 female. (I know its not 3 f to 1 male but thats okay.)

So tank mates is pretty much what you like as there are lots of possibilities.

Thanks for the advice, you two! Also, below is my current stocking list (with changes):

-----

75 Gal Tank:
- 2 Turtles [Still To Research Type]

75 Gal Tank:
- 5 AngelFish [Small To Start with --> Will Grow Large.]
- 2 Aquatic Frogs
- 4 Rainbowfish [2 Males, 2 Females]
- 3 New world Cichlids [2 Males, 1 Female]
- 2x "Green Cory Brochis Splendens" [1 Male, 1 Female]
- 2x "Panda Cory" [1 Male, 1 Female]

20 Gal Tank:
- 5 Male Guppies
- 12 Female Guppies.

10 Gal Tank:*
- Quarantine Tank.

* - How many quarantine tanks do you think would be required? Because I could also use one as a "split-up" if two fish fight.

Thanks!

Turtle tank- sounds good.

75 community- Please specify what "New World Cichlids" you want. Could be anything. You can still add more to the tank. That's barely anything. (in my view)

20 gal- Your going to have a lot of fry, BE WARNED! :P Take down the number of females and you won't get AS many AS fast. My tank was 4 female to 3 males and I had around 30 in a month... Which is why I got rid of them. Was overloaded in fry. They are the fishworld rabbits (along with convict cichlids)
