Can someone please tell me how I make a picture appear below my name to the left when I post in a thread? I've been all over my profile and I can't figure it out.

its called an avatar, a signature is what appears below your post text..
edit your profile

If it doesn't work, go to edit options which is under quick links on the nav bar and after you go to edit options, you should see something about changing your avatar to your right. Click on it. Then upload a picture of your computer.
