Hi I currently have one tank for fish I'm pretty sure its 30 gallon and right now it doesn't have anything but a freshwater clam in it and i plan on having some fantail goldfish in it because this is technically my first tank

Welcome to the forum! Before adding any fish, study up on their needs, like temp., food, and especially water parameters. (ph, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates) Get a good test kit- not the kind with strips, the kind with little test tubes and drops. I know those kits are a bit expensive, but it will save you lots of grief and $ in the long run. Fantails are beautiful fish.
