Wink Newbie here also!

Hey guys. Im totally me told me to join, so here I am. My name is Ekaterina, I'm Russian, but live in the USA. I'm 16. I finished High-School last year, and in College, and am hoping to get into Harvard. A few years ago, I started volunteering at the local PetStore, to take care of there fish. A few months ago there manager moved, and I was chosen to take over temporarily, and I am still here I raise my own Bettas, and at home I raise neon tetras and guppies, and have started selling them at the store.
I am currently taking several Biology classes, and and studying to teach Marine Biology !

My fish are:
55 gallon tank with 100+ neon tetras
55 gallon tank with around 30 female Bettas
30 gallon tank with platies
30 gallon angel Tank
30 gallon guppy tank
10 male bettas each in a 10 gallon tank
1 male betta in a 20 gallon tank.

I have been experimenting with Bettas, I will tell you about it if you like. Also I have been experimenting with neon tetras.

I have one prized Betta, a half moon, dark blue with a white line on his tail. Named Blue Moon. His babies are always half moons, no matter what type of Betta he is crossed with. Is is also very smart. He jumps for his food, eats out of my hand, jumps through a hoop, and fetches little plastic rings if I drop them in his tank. He brings them back to me!

My other animals are:

3 horses, (actually they are to small for horses). I am small, so my horses aren't very big. I bought them cheap, and pretty much untrained. About 4 years ago. My dad wasn't to exited about them, but I have plenty of blue ribbons and trophies to prove they were worth it! My dad wants a horse big enough for him to ride, so soon we will have 4!
4 dogs and 6 cats
2 alpine goats and 1 pygme goat
40 banty chickens (I breed them)
I also raise Jersey Wooley rabbits, and currently have 12
1 mini lop eared buck (rabbit)
2 birds
Salmon and toads in the pond in the backyard!

sounds like you're pretty smart, stick to the forum here and you'll even be smarter! Glad to see a fellow pet store worker, I myself am more interested in the saltwater side of things but have a few freshwater tanks too. Does your pet store have any saltwater fish?

Wink

Hello!

I used to havea 150 gallon salt water tank, but I gave it up to breed neons and Bettas.

Yes, we have salt water fish here. Several types. I have been stocking more and more since becoming manager! It makes up for loosing the 150 gallon tank!

Will keep in touch!

I'm currently breeding zebra danios to get the hang of breeding small fish. I've never bred anything until now that couldn't start off on micro worms or grindal worms. I'd love to hear any advice you have on raising tiny fry like neons.

Welcome,

Glad you decided to stop by. We have alot of people here that really know their stuff. And one thing I have learned is no matter how many tanks or how long you have had them. You can always learn one more thing about fish.

Hey every buddy! Yup, I'm here to learn as much as possible! Lol, my favorite saying is [i]No one can know everything, so don't close your ears just because you think you know it all!

Hi max_payneIhp, you have heard of me? Hopfully it was all good, no?!!! I see my pets have atracted a lot of attention, I will have to put up pictures soon!

Fishfirst (I like that name!). I thought you would be interested that as of yesterday, I am back into salt water fish! Not on purpose, the salt water fish I ordered came sick, so I brought them home, since I don't work on Sunday. I can't trust anybody else to cure them. I doubt that I will ever be able to get rid of these fish. And hey, whats life without salt water fish? If you ever want to move, move down here, I'll fire all the other employees and hire you! Unfortunatly, I'm the only one here that knows about salt water fish!!!

Oh yes, Friday, I brought home chichlids and Koi, I traded some neons and guppies for them, because they weren't selling!
