Hello world! You can call me Cassie (my real life name is Laura, but for whatever reason I always go by Cassie over the internet.) I've owned Betta's for almost 8 years now. I admit that I started off as an irresponsible owner, but from that point I've grown to loving the fish and working to keep them happy.

Currently I have a 10 g tank, which houses a Betta (Phantom) and boards my younger sisters snail (Phillip). Those two actually have a really neat relationship. Phantom eats food with the snail, stares at the snail wondering how he can climb up walls, and generally wishes that he were a snail. Whenever Phillip gets taken ou to show off to people, Phantom swims around looking for him. (Hmmm...maybe he's under this leaf. Nope...maybe this one? Nope. Hmmm, that moving rock sure is tricky)

In the house we also have my older sisters 30 g tank which houses fancy tail guppies (as well as a wide assortment of pest snails bwahahaha) and a few corries. I'm not very interested in guppies, but the corries provide me with endless hours of amusement. Especially the one that thinks he is a guppy. He schools with the guppies, tries to feed from the top with the guppies, and sulks when the guppies shun them for their own kind. Poor little corrie doesn't fit in anywhere.

Welcome, I hope you enjoy yourself here at the forums. Make yourself at home, we like to think of this place as being a community where other fish keepers can meet and discuss their experiences rather than being a typical formal question and answer message board. Feel free to join in discusions, and I'm sure you have a few tips that you could share with novice fishkeepers around the board.

If you have a big enough tank with enough hiding places, pH of around 7, you can keep virtually any fish together as long as all the fish are around the same size and these two groups of fish are avioded:
Serrasalmus
Tetradon
(figure eights and dwarfs are the
exception).

I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families:
Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers.
