Default Finally saying hello

Sorry that I havent introduced myself yet, I just started posting away and forgot to do this. I've been a fish head for about 6 years now. Presently I have 6 tanks(75gal Hap/Peac0ck; 55gal Mbuna; 46gal Mbuna; 45 tall planted community; 15gal tall tetra/tank(that is receiving extra plants from the 45) and a 10gal quar/hospital) and if I had more space in my house I would have at least a few more! When it comes to keeping fish I think the best part is setting up a new tank or trying to rearrange/redecorate the rock work after a h2o change. My outside interests are my 2 ferrets, dog(mutt), fiance's/my two cats, sportbikes, snowboarding, fishing and camping. For I job I deliver/monitor blood products for American Red Cross. Well I've never been really crazy about talking about myself so I'll leave it at that. Bye-bye for now.

Oh Goodie, I see you introduced yourself.

I use to donate blood quite frequently until the time I passed out. It seems like since then the blood bank hasn't called back asking me to come in. LOL

You know what is really funny... When ever I give I have to tell them to lay me down as soon as they stick me because I'll pass out!!! So dont feel bad about it at all. Its weird, it dosen't hurt at, all its just some mind thing that I've developed. I've learned that I have to eat really well the day before and on the day I intend to give. I used to work at a hospital before ARC and we had a choice to get a Hepatitis vaccination (ARC does this too) which is a series of three shots. The first one that I had they sat me down in a chair, since I'm prone to faint. Well they gave me the shot then started telling me what to do if I would have a reaction,ect.... The next thing I know I have a face full of smelling salts. If that stuff don't wake you up you must be dead or lack a sence of smell. The nurse had turned her back to me thinking that I must be ok. She said that all of a sudden I quit answering her and when she turned back around I was passed out in the chair (I'm glad I didn't fall out and crack my head).

Welcome! Hope you stick around.

I despise shots. I just got into snowboarding 2 years ago, I caught on quick - probably because I've skated since I was 14 (still do, believe it or not). Going to Montana in January to hit some real powder, not this East Coast man made snow (ice blanket).

Arent you a little OLD to be playing with those SKATEBOARDS!!! HAHA! Sorry, I couldn't resist. I started skatin when I was 10. Not so much any longer,(I still have one though) but if I had access to a 4 to 6 foot mini half that might be a different story. Been snowboarding for 5 years(easier on the body and no pushing!!) and wish that I started MUCH sooner. The closest place for me to go is up by St.Louis. Its mostly all man-made snow also. I was able to go to Squaw Valley (Lake Tahoe,CA.)a few years ago when a buddy lived out by San Francisco. LOVED IT!!!!

When I give blood I watch them stick the needle in me and dont have any problems with it. I usually joke about what a fast bleeder I am. I can usually fill the bag pretty quick. I think that is where my problem is. My body cant adjust fast enough for the blood loss.

When I was done I remember walking over to the little snack area and the nurse asked me what I wanted to drink. She gave me a sprite. I sat down looked in the cup and watched the bubbles and all was done. I opened my eyes and there were about 5 people all around me and they already had a wheelchair there to move me to a back room. LOL It took 2 hour before I had enough energy to stand up and get to the car to let my wife drive me home.
