Hello all! I suppose I should have introduced myself when I first signed up, but I was preoccupied with trying to get my tank right! So.... I'll introduce myself now...
I'm not only new to this board but also to owning fish! I got started when one of my students gave me a betta in a little jar. The little jar turned into a bigger jar, the bigger jar turned into a 1 gallon tank, the 1 gallon tank turned into a 3 gallon tank, the 3 gallon tank into a 6 gallon tank. In addition to the purplish-blue and aqua Veil Tail Betta, I added 2 Emerald Corydoras and 1 African Dwarf Frog. I've learned a lot from this site already... thanks (from both me and my fish!) I still have a ton to learn and I need lots of help, so I expect to be here for awhile! So... what else? I've lived in Los Angeles all my life... I'm studying to be an interpreter... I work with inner-city teens and do freelance graphic design when I have the time, I love going to Mexico and Southeast Asia... I've worked in hospitals and a wildlife sanctuary with many types of people and exotic animals (been bitten by both, lol). So... enough of me. I'm very glad I found this board... it seems so friendly and helpful! |

:welcome: I hope you've found the right place. Welcome to the community.

If you have a big enough tank with enough hiding places, pH of around 7, you can keep virtually any fish together as long as all the fish are around the same size and these two groups of fish are avioded: Serrasalmus Tetradon(figure eights and dwarfs are the exception). I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families: Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers. |
