Default Randomly brought me a lizard home..

Mom walks in the other day:
"oh, I forgot, I got you something." Hands me a styrofoam cup.
Unknowing on my part, I think "oh, she brought me up a cup of soup...."
Opened it up, nope, not soup... a lizard..

Juvenile blue-tailed skink. One of around 4 lizards that somehow, actually live in Wisconsin. Until this year, only seen them once... they seem to be popping up a lot around here lately. Let the little guy go this afternoon.
Had him for a few days, and just couldn't justify keeping him along with the snake, after everything that's been going on lately.

Is that what you call them up here, Blue-tailed Skinks?
Down here they're called "scorpions" or Six-Lined Racerunners.

Not really a scorpion, of course, or even a skink, but a Teiid. Fast little guys!
Cnemeidophorus sexlineatus, or something like that.

They don't have a rep for making good pets. They're very hard to keep, being so high-strung. Letting him go was a good move.

We're having a gecko invasion down here, by the way. The place is suddenly crawling with them. last year and prior, none, and now, very common.

Yeah, a few times i've heard them being called racerunners. More so the other species (which i've only seen one other). Really are extremely fidgity and high strung.
I had it in a small ten gallon, was a cool little guy but really thought it would do better off if just let go. At least it was a nice gesture, never been able to keep, or even catch one before! I was told by mom, that she's seen a few larger ones out in the garden we have, so I just let him go there.

Pfft, if there was a gecko invasion down here, i'd be a little ecstatic . When I lived in florida, they (along with anoles) were literally everywhere. Saw a few iguanas roaming around also. It seems this past year, a lot of reptiles are really blooming here. Out of nowhere, i've started finding more blue-spotted sallies, hognose, and fox snakes. Years before, i'd find maybe one a year if that.
