Default Jewel of the Rift on National Geographic

Jewel of the Rift [TV-G]
Friday, September 15, 2006, at 1:00pm

The National Geographic Channel will be airing Jewel of the Rift, an award-winning documentary on the wildlife and evolutionary history of Africa's Lake Tanganyika. This lake is the source of a variety of african cichlids found in the hobby today, as well as other unique forms of wildife. The film illustrates the natural behaviors and origins of the many familiar cichlids we keep in our aquariums.

Lmao not everyone has the luxury of tivo..moxi..etc.

I've seen this documentary before, it's one of the best aired in a long time. They do multiple scenes on breeding, follow emperor cichlids and their brood, talk a little about giant puffers and electric catfish, etc. a little of everything.

There's been a lot of documantaries on lately. Blue planet ones, monster fish hooked, piranhas, barracuda, etc.

Ay Ive seen this one also! Its really interesting and worth a watch. I kind of underestimated the puffers defense mechanism until I saw it. The cichlid part is the most interesting though, I thought.

hopefully once Uncle Sam quits moving me around every few years I'll be able to afford to get all that new technology in my entertainment system. heck I'm still watching a 35" full frame tube TV. (my wide screen is in the shop ) but I guess my first purchase will be one of the newer 1080 sets ... hopefully with tivo built in some how.

For now I'll just keep complaining about their choice of air time for the shows LOL

Well, we got the Tivo free when we subscribed to our dish programming. Where I live, there is no reception and cable is not offered on our road. So if you want to have any TV, you get a dish. I think we do pay like $5 a month for the Tivo subscription tho.

You aren't alone with the TVs... tho you have a widescreen! I actually still have an old heavy wood console type TV that works (we dont use it tho). I've tried a couple of times to Freecycle it, but I guess people would rather have no TV than such a big beast LOL Go figure.
