Default Sorry for the downtime...

FF got hacked and I had to do a backup on it, so posts that were made a few days ago are not there anymore.

I also updated the forum version. I think thats how they got in.

Sorry again, at least we are up

Bryan

I was gonna say, I don't think I want chat back so bad that you have to kill the site trying to repair it :P

Any idea if the trojan was in any specific place? Or basically if here at all then it was being downloaded?

Okay I just got an error message... very weird. It says: "This forum requires that you wait 30 seconds between posts, Please try again in 29 seconds."

I know it took me more than 30 seconds from responding to a PM and responding here. I just don't type THAT fast!

NICE.. then it puts it up as a double post!!!!!!!

Shaggy I think something weird is still going on.
First it would not let me post my above post saying I had posted too soon (within 30 seconds) and to try again in 29 seconds.

Then I added that information to the above post and when I posted it there was a double post.

Then when I edited that post to say that it had then made a double post, it got rid of the second post all together when I asked it to save.

I am in Fish Forums Twilight Zone! (I can't wait to see what happens to this post).

Did something happen to the layout of the site? Everything is centered and lined up weirdly.

Oh my! I just had to completely restore my computer today! It crashed yesterday and I thought it was the Norton I installed on it. Maybe it was something I got here instead?

It looks like the hijacked site runs a vb script to put a trojan on your hard drive. Get your anti-virus software up-to-date, scan and enable firewall defenses too. If the hacker got our e-mails and IP addresses, any of us could be the next target.

I just got a good tip from a buddy of mine that is a computer whiz....

"when you are not on it for a long period of time disconnect the wire. because if you don't, the hacker needs an achor to work from and if your system is on it can be used as an anchor."

"Can they hack me if I'm active on the computer? or do they have to wait til there is no internet activity?"

"yes unfortunately they can while you are on. But most hackers will realize when they do that your system starts acting funny (like it did before all this happen, but not neccessrily been hacked)"

I hope this info helps.
