I tend to find that veteran members of any forum become irritated at new members over time, because they feel that the knowledge they provided hasn't been taken into account, as if all new members should somehow be aware.

All of us, new members and veterans alike, should promote respect in our replies, regardless of how many times the question and/or answer has been repeated. Teaching is endless... there are always new students. It does nobody any good when an experienced moderator portrays an air of frustration and abandonment, exactly the same as a teacher cannot expect his next semester's students to already understand the material he taught last year.

Fishkeeping is a hobby that starts at a very young age. This thread should be promptly removed at that suggestion alone. Open, supportive information is what is needed to guide those we feel need direction (or redirection). Not this.

loha, stick around and just ignore the elitists when they give you crap. They can't be reasoned with, just let them think they're God's gift to the hobby.

*sigh*
Here we go again.

So, the way I see it, about six people need a temporary or even permanent ban from this site. That won't happen, at least not this time, but you little idiots are now officially on my list. I'm watching you, and if this crap continues, you're gone. Got a problem with that? Go ahead, say so; I dare you.

Quit trying to impress each other with how smart you think you are all the time, just for the sake of doing it, really, especially at the expense of others. I used to get into such pissing contests all the time myself, and I know they lead to nothing good. If something has already been covered, don't bother adding a "yeah, what he said" to it. It's pointless, and in some cases, like THIS one, quite rude.
People are going to do what they want to do. It's very painful to watch sometimes, but that's the way it goes. They'll eventually learn their lessons, and when they ask for help, feel free to give them all the help they need. Until then, stop the Inquisition, already.

This is supposed to be fun, remember?
If you see someone in dire need of help, then ask them if they'd like to hear some advice that can make them more successful, and then wait for their response. That way this sort of thing, which is just inexcusable, doesn't happen again. ( at least until next time when I know it will... )

Default Advice

One thing I've noticed about these forums is that advice is given around here a lot.

Even when unsolicited.

Default I hope loachata stays

I agree with BV77. I joined fish forums recently so I could learn from more informative people. I think some of the people need do a little more reading and a little less talking. I hope lolachata decides to stay and help the rest of us
who really appreciate his knowledge.

I agree about what COM said about overstocked, it is an overstocked word on this forum. I skimmed over that thread and from what I could tell nobody had any excuse to say what was said. I don't want to take sides though to prevent offending anymore people on here! I would love it for you to stay, but I confess I don't know you that well, but obviously many people on here care for you.

Folks:

Serious and prolonged cogitation has yielded joy.

I believe that the chain of events were:

I began receiving more complaints to the the Mod's from those referenced below than lc was receiving:

Due to his agitation relevant to the above described adverse condition a temper tantrum ensued which was followed by the (so called) offending post.

The moral of the story is that this whole ordeal has been my fault.
