Doesnt sound like the eel. They dont bite things off, just swallow whole. Sounds like the cichlids, or red clawed macro are killing off your fish and shrimp.

I think i've made a huge mistake. I picked up a Kirb the other day. I've read on numerous places that they are a peaceful community cichlid. Last night, a few hours after buying him, i noticed him munching on a neon tetra. I'm now down to 5 neons. I don't really mind this that much, the neons are cheap, pretty food. I just wish they would go after the guppies which are slower moving, easier to eat fish.
Anyway, the problem is that this kirb is quite the bully. She has been harassing my rams and any other fish that gets anywhere near her. Will she calm down or should i bring her back to the store?

I don't think the krib killed your neon. I would place bets on your macro, or on stress.... if the mollies are doing great... the water may be harder than the neons prefer.
I have bred kribs in a 30 gallon community tank with far too many guppies (I put a couple kribs in there as population control, since the kribs weren't breeding in the other tank I figured they might as well be useful and fatten up on guppy babes, and voila! They bred). Even while breeding, which is when they are most aggressive, none of the guppies or other critters were killed.
On the other hand, crayfish and larger shrimp with pinchers are voracious fish eaters. I once bought a clawed shrimp out of curiousity, because I loved the cherries so much, and put it in a ten gallon with some endlers. Voila. No more endlers.
I gave the darn thing away. It wasn't cool enough to devote an entire tank to.
BTW, avoid a firemouth. Would not be good with some of your other fish.
