tire track eel... help

i just purchased a tiretrack eel thinking it was a pea****. hes in a 30g. im not sure what size tank he would need and howw faast they grow. all info would help alot

They should be in a 50 gallon tank and they grow to be up to 2 and a half feet.

o. ok. i was afraid i'd need 2 upgrade 2 lik a HUGE tank. do they grow fast

i am not sure of the rate of growth but I would think they need a little more than a 50 gal. I would think wither a 75-100. Also keep a tight top on the tank as i have seen some try to get out of the tank. My old roomate had one in a 100 gallon and was about 2' long. Forget any plants.

They are awesome to watch

AHHHHHHWAHHHH!!! i luv planted tanks!!! o well... i think i love snuffy the snufalufagus (thats his name) a little bit more (but barely). i'' try 2 get my mom 2 let me get a 75g but a 55 is as big as i think i can go....

. i dont even know how big a 75g actually is... i think my 30g is huge...

Same height and length as a 55g but 18 inches wide instead of 13.

ive had a tiretrack eel for quite some time now. he's my favorite fish in there. they are very cool fish to have and they are very friendly. whenever i open the lid to feed them, he comes up and i can easily hand feed him bloodworms, minnows, guppies, goldfish, and ghost shrimp. It's sweet. Be warned though...they are pigs. I buy 30 minnows and dump them in there, and he eats 2/3 of them. Mine is currently in a 55g and seems to be fine.

yay!!how long did it take u 2 get him used 2 u? how fast did it grow? what fish are with him? and how big is it? sorry 4 so many ?'s

the first time i got ghost shrimp i held one by the tail and put it in front of him, and the next thing i knew, it was gone. after that, he'd see my hand and expect food.
as far as how fast he grew, i'm not positive, but they do grow quick. he's maybe about a foot and then some. i dont remember how big he was when i got him.
hes in a tank with 4 cichlids (2''-4''), a gar (7''), ropefish (1'), lobster (6''), and a pleco (6'').
i used to have a fancy goldfish and a knight goby, but he ate them.

mine ate all my ghost shrimp and 3 feeder guppies i wanted 2 keep... o well

The bigger the tank, the better. Most keep them in 50 gallons and up. While eel like fish don't need huge tanks like other "tankbusters" they'll always like more room. I'd try for a 75 gallon as much as you can, if not then a 55 might work.
