Default What should I tell neighbor about his fish?

My neighbor has a 55g with a BGK and a AGK as it was tan and he has a 10" or bigger common plec in it and he only cleans it once a year he says and he does a 75% vacuum cleaning and scrubs all the deocrations and replace's the filter pads and your not going to believe this but he's done this for years and the fish are still alive. I've told him to do at least monthly gravel cleanings and he said he didn't want to because it takes him half a day to clean the 55g and even when I said if he did it more often it wouldn't take so long he still wouldn't do it. So are these fish doomed or is there something I can say?

Well, there's nothing more you can do other than kinda guide him along. If he didn't listen the first he's not going to the second time. You can kinda try but only expect something small to change if that. If he's worried about cleaning his tanks then he obviously doesn't really care for the fish. Since he's had them that long and they're still alive he's probably not going to be real accepting of others advice.

Btw it takes him like a day to clean a 55 gallon tank? It takes me an hour for mine, maybe an hour and a half if I clean the cainster filter. Shouldn't be taking that long.

I know, that didn't make sense, it only takes me about 10 min at the most to do a vacuum cleaning on my 55g.
