dwarf puffer not happy?

i have a 2 dwarf puffers in a 5g. the female gets bullied by the male so i moved her to my 29g where she seems alittle better. i havent noticed any bullying on her part and i was wondering if i could just leave her if she continues on good behavior.. shes eating fine [just not the pond snails] but could this be a sign shes sick or something? her tail is always clenched.

I wouldn't leave her in the 29 for long, I have seen a DP kept in a 55 with two large commons Plecs... The plecs did not have fins, regardless that DP found a new home.

My recommendation is upgrade the two of them to a 10 gallon, increase the amount of plants and hiding places to break their line of sight. A 5 gallon is kinda small for them to not bump into each other.

Actually that post had a lot of meaning to me (: Yeah, dividing will help, or maybe a whole bunch of plant dividers so that she can escape.

yeah i have been wanting to get some DP's and been doing alot of reading on them lately and if you want one alone, a minimum of 3gal. for one fish would suffice but for two in one tank you need at least 5gal. per fish.

puffers are brackish water fish .they need salt in there thank.they have never been breeded in captivity.and there is no sexual differences .i know i have kept these fish for many years.

This thread is kind of old...but I'd like to point out that the information you gave, sueann, is incorrect. The original poster was referring to dwarf or malabar puffers. These fish are completely freshwater fish. There are sexual differences noted in most of the info on them. I have kept them
