Carnivorous Fish

Are there any fish that are carnivorous like the Oscar but don't grow to be too large? I would like to keep 1 or 2 in a separate tank probably between 10-15 gallons.

Almost every semi-aggressive and agressive fish are carnivorous. If they can fit in their mouth they will pretty much each it.

Most types of knife fish are carnivorous, but my Ghost Knife sometimes eat flakes and algae chips, but mainly sticks with bloodworms and tubifex worms. African Brown Knifes and Clown Knifes are also primarily carnivorous. The problem is that Clown Knifes get up to 2 feet while the Ghost and African Brown Knives get up to 1.5 feet.

Notice the 10 gallon tank. That really limits what he can keep. I don't think you will find any small "meat" eaters like piranha. You only have space for "bug-eaters" like bettas.

A single figure-eight puffer could live in a 15 gallon tank, but they need brackish water...

Dwarf pike cichlid could work.

Thanks everyone. I have looked into it before and I would love to keep a Ghost Knife but as someone else stated, I really cannot keep a fish that grows to that size. I will definitely look into Dwarf pike cichlids though. Now I just have one more question, what is brackish water?

Its water with some marine salt added, but not enough to be full saltwater. Usually a specific gravity below 1.020 (being a high-end brackish salinity) is considered brackish. Full saltwater is above that, with the ideal SG for a saltwater tank being around 1.024.

I saw a couple Ghost Knife at my LFS today for $21.99. I was really impressed by them swimming around but I would be need a much larger tank.
