Default Convention Underway

Yesterday I helped run the fish sales room at the AKA convention. We sold well over $5,000 worth of fish and eggs, with an average price somewhere over $10.00 per bag. I spent a little over $100 and got some truly stunning fish, including one of only two pair of a huge, F0 Epiplatys sexfasciatus that has the most color I've ever seen in that species. All six pair of fish I bought are settling down and watching the daphnia swimming in their new homes.

Now.......

Back to working on tank maintenance

I just heard that the "Best In Show" award went to some Lucania goodei.
Well, whoodathunkit?
We nativefish enthusiasts are all pretty stoked about that little upset.

Yep, you're absolutely right. A lot of people who turn up their noses at anything that doesn't cost big bucks or has a string of indecipherable location codes after its name were really a bit bent out of shape.

One of the most attractive killies I have is Fundulus linneolatus. I wouldn't trade them for the best Notho in the show.

Well, the American Cichlid Convention is in Fort Worth this year. It's not South Texas, but not that bad a drive either.
