Beer: glad you could find a new owner for the aro:

to jump back on topic: which aro to get?

If you want to have other fish in the tank besides the arowana, the jardini should be the last option. 1 out of approx 10 aro keepers have done it successfully, but the chosen tankmates were either agile swimmers, had tough scales to absorb the brutal attacks, or were small enough to hide 24-7. Other factors with the one successful keeper was to have some strong powerheads to keep the aro busy.

For the record the keeper had one fish, a synodontis (sp?) which hid in a small pvc tube all the time, and it stayed alive by coming out when food hit the floor. It would basically dart out, grab the foood, and dart back in, that's gotta suck for that syno.

Some personal experiences in the past week which makes me support the fact that the jardini has zero compatibility:
1. bit the thermometer when i placed it in the bucket before introduction, and attacked it multiple times
2. moments after introduction, she bit every leaf in my tank, including strands of java moss, and thrashing a bit while the leaf was in her mouth
3. fed her shrimp and scallops yesterday, i thought she didn't want them because she grabbed the pieces and trashed them around, and then eventually ate the pieces of shrimp, and shredded the scallops in a hundred pieces
4. i wiped the tank off after a water change with a beach towel. i noticed from the kitchen that she was pecking at the glass, making a pass around the tank and then coming back to the same spot to hit the glass some more. it was a strand of thread from the towel. I've only seen this behaviour in managuense and a few other nasty cichlids.
No other tankmates for me, unless she chills out. I will try an experiment in another month with a 14" long pleco, to see if she attacks or not.
