put in any fish that connot be eaten by it. Most fish will not bother the BGK because it emmits a shock to a fish that threatens it. Or in my past case, a hand.

I don't know about that, I read about hand feeding a ghost knife. So I gradded a blood worm, and stuck my arm in the tank in front of him. I was so excited as he slowley crept forward. I was like 10 at the time, and I was getting impatiant, so I moved my hand withthe bloodworm towards him. Then I felt a little shock, not very painful, but very surprising. I dropped the bloodworm, and got my hand out of the tank immediately. I never tried that again. So I went online and searched about it. Many people say that they do shock, I am one of the believers.

Well then, you should have had another fish, not a Black Ghost Knife. Can you describe your fish's body, colors, markings...
I used to hand-feed them... at first times, he was really scared, then turned to be aggressive later (Attack my hand) and after a while he's familiar with it and get along well with hand-feeding ot being pet. I may be wrong...

Okay it depends how big it is going to be i suggest getting about a 90 gal to begin with and they take a while to get big, i use to keep tetras with mine but he was only small they do send out electic pulse's to defend them self and to navigate around, but you need loads of hideing places because they get stressed out when they dnt!
