20" if my recollection is right making a 125 a wee bit too short on the width end, good tankmates are peaceful fish that he can't swallow such as angels, loaches, needlefish, pictus catfish, gouramis, etc

I used to have 1 in my 100 gals. Better setting up hiding places for this nocturnal guy. Also be prepared that you may need to feed him at night-time. He's very peaceful to other fish... but not too small ones. Can't keep 2 of them in one tank or with a elephant-noised.

I think ok. But the fish sometimes is a little bit too active.... I saw him swimming al over the place, pull other fish away. Anyway your tank shoud afford hiding places and an open space for him.

55 would be good for about a year maybe 2... just be prepared to upgrade or give him away.

just out of curiousity, does the fact that bgk and elephant-nose can be kept together because of the electricity they produce?

Uuuuuh, nah, not really. I didnt even feel a tingle and I hand fed mine. I read they can slightly shock something that touches its tail, but I dont think it can. brown knives arent true knife fish and dont use an electircal current at all. they have large eyes that work well in the dark, and dont need an elctrical current.
