Default Australian Arowana pics

I ordered a 3inch jardini (35$) on the 23rd of June, but shipping was delayed until July 1st. It arrived alive, active, and at 5inches. She tried to bite the thermometer when I put it in the bucket, and started biting the plants moments after introduction to the tank.

Moments before introduction

Cut 'er loose

Miss Dover likey likey

Mugshot

5 inches

Some tail and scale detail

I am awe struck. She's beautiful, the pictures do her no justice. We named her Maja, short for Majalin - the aboriginal word for fish. We may rename her if we find a name more specific to her species used by the Aborigine.

Wow its absolutely beautiful!! And thanks by the way for helping me find a new owner for mine. I had a few guys email regarding him and one is in Kentucky and another moving to Kentucky soon. I am gonna hang on to it until the reply back. I think one of the guys got on from a pet store, so I'm waiting to hear back from the other. I can keep him for awhile since he's only 6 inches now. Its just gonna make it harder to give him up. They are such awesome fish! I haven't liked any other as well as this one. I hope you have as much fun watching yours as I have mine.

she's eating pieces of nightcrawlers right now. i've got some shrimp and scallops, and i'm sure she'll like blackworms but the LFS's have been sold out.

She's pretty nasty, so i won't be getting any stingrays unless she chills out. if i can't do rays, i'm going to plant it heavily.

She ate a piece of shrimp and some scallop last night. I'm going to stray away from the scallops though, because she'll thrash the food around before she eats it, and the scallops are brittle so it shreds into hundreds of pieces. I will try to freeze lil strips before I totally rule them out.

Got some blackworms from the LFS, and she didn't seem excited about it but she ate them. She seems to prefer the chase and catch... I put a couple of ghost shrimp in there and she was all over the tank trying to snag one. Those shrimp are evasive lil' buggers. One of the shrimp jumped out of the tank, the other jumped in the breeder (unintentionally, i'm guessing). I witnesse one of them being eaten, and I can't find the other, so it's hiding in the fake log or is becoming one.

Going to try some pinhead crickets next, and then some frozen foods starting with beefheart. I need to find a dry food too, I was told that Azoo arowana sticks 9 in 1 was the best out there.

I need to find out if gutload for crickets is good or bad for fish, reptile keepers normally use this but I dunno for sure.

Update: LFS was out of pinheads, so I got large crickets. She loves them! Maybe it's because they float and wiggle...

Haven't been pressed about using gutload w/crickets for my fish, not really worried because I use VitaChem injected in earthworms. Now I just need to order those Aro Sticks.

She measured in at 6", so that's about an inch in the past month. I haven't been powerfeeding tho... feed once a day and twice a day on the weekends.
