I went to Petsmart tonite to get a couple of otos for my 10g and they didn't have them so I then went to Petland they didn't have them either but I saw three freshwater flounders does anyone here have one? How big of tank do they need? What will they eat? Also my most importants question I've heard they do best in brackish water do I have to make it BW once they start growing or can they live their whole life in FW? Also what can they go along with? Thanks for the input....

Oh yeah also I know that FW water aquarium salt wouldn't make it brackish but would that be acceptable. Because I've read you can keep them in pure FW or BW or FW with FW aqua salt so I wanna know what ya'll use if ya'll have one.

Yeah I know I've already read that site and that thread neither said tank size except for 10g to start so I'm guessing 10-20 is min and I wanted to know what water people theirselves have kept them in because I know they can be kept in FW or BW(BEST) or FW with aquarium salt because I'm stuck on if I should just have FW or BW if it is that crucial though I know which is best and that's brackish.

They are brackish period. They are meant to be in it so put them in it.
I'd say 30 gallon minimum. try aqualandpetsplus.com Aquarium salt won't do nothing. You have to use marine salt and raise your salinity up to 1.008 or around that. And people next time instead of just saying it's been asked before and giving him links just answer on his or hers post. Almost every question thats been asked has already been answered a month or more before that. It's helpful when you give him links to other threads but when they do it to me it gets annoying lol. Not trying to be rude or anything.

brackish water isnt hard... and im not saying you are stupid, but remeber that salt doesnt evaporate (although you loose some on you lid... in the pump so forth) so when you do water changes you premix salt in with water, but if you are just topping off the tank... just add fresh water other wise you SG will so be higher than you expected it to be...

My cousin had his in fw and they would just die off and he would never find them
And brackish is somewhat like saltwater. Lower salinity, no lr or critters, certain plants. Just get a 30 gallon or bigger tank with sand, salinity of 1.008, a little driftwood or something like that, java fern, and other things like that and you should be fine. And yes I love aqualand too lol. They tell you a lot of wrong things on the harder fish like gars but overall they have a good selection of fish profiles ( pages) and interesting info. I like that each fish that they have on they're site has been kept and cared for in there store and they have personal experience with them.
