Well i was looking at DPs for quite some time and today i walked into PETsMART with the intension of buying 2 ADFs to put with my betta in his 2.5 gallon. Well what'd know PETsMART's been carrying DPs for a month!!!! I bought one on the spot moved my betta to a large bowl slapped a mini filter on the 2.5 and put the DP in it. Does anyone have experience?

You should not buy fish before researching them. Hopefully everything will work out, but many times with buying fish wiothout proper research your fish will end up either starving, ill, or dead.
DPs only eat live or forzen foods, you can try freeze-dried, but its uncommon for them to even attempt eating them. You can pick up some brine shrimp eggs and start a small culture to feed your puffer. Also, I think dwarf puffers like company, maybe you can upgrade to a 5 gallon and get another. |

cucci67: dude, you know i got my facts, i told you i knew about them and gave you the link to the site I used to research them on my red eyed puffer post. Anyway Marzooke, thats his name, is doing good. He hasn't eaten yet but I'm providing him with bloodworms and hopefully after adapting to the new tank he'll start to eat. If i have to i'll get a BBS hatchery. He's the size of a pea with a tail. I'd like to upgrade him to a 5 and get him a friend but i would need to cycle it and i can't get my hands on any bio spira or stability as of yet plus i'm not will to wait a month cycling a tank for 2 puffers that may not even get along. But don't worry i know alot about these fish i just want advice from people who've kept them

I have some experience. I bought one after researching a lot, got him home, acclimatized him to the tank, put him in there, and he died after half an hour.

Sorry, fishboy, forgot it was you with that link. Now that I think about it, I remember you knew a lot about them. At DP.com they say they need 2.5 gallons per puffer, soa 5 gallon is good for 2. If you can, I would get a 10 gallon for 4, but if you don't have the room, 2 in a 5 would still be nice. Good Luck

he's getting enough... but I'd add some pond snails for him to constantly forage for.

There are dozens of species of pufferfish. There are a small handful of true freshwater puffers. Some brackish puffers can tolerate FW but should be acclimated to their natural BW parameters, not doing so can and will shorten their lifespan. Some SW puffers can tolerate BW, but again should be acclimated to their natural SW parameters. There's a lot of good information online, but some sites contradict others, so always do extensive research by comparing info from varying sites. You'll find that up to date published books will be your most reliable source. C |

i wasn't trying to be mean i just hate the steryotype that all puffers need some salt which is a common thought from under informed shop keepers
