Question Not sure where to put this

im having a problem with my angelfish first of all i would like to identify what kind he is
ill upload pictures in a little bit
he has a Red dorsel fin, gold top with black strips and a silverish bottom

2nd of all he wont eat withthe rest of the fish... the only time he will eat is if you put food right beside him... is this normal?
are they schooling fish?
if so is that why he hangs out all by himself?
why wont he eat with the others?

thanks
IKOW

I'd liek to see a pic, sounds like a Koi, but Koi's don't have stipes.

There could be several reasons he is not eating.
Is he the only angel in the tank?
How old is he?
What temp & pH is the tanks at?
What have you been feeding him?
And lastly, what other fish are in the tank?

The PH is at 7.5-7.75 temp flucuates between 76 and 77.4 from the night to daytime. Aside from the spirulina flakes, I've given the tank bloodworms, tetracolor tropical flakes, zuchinni, Hikari carnivore pellets, and wardley algae wafers. It only tends to eat flakes and its very tenetive about it, likes to watch them fall. Ususaly a tetra will snatch it so i feed them on the other side of the tank. This gives the angel time to get some when I drop a few right above it. It's only been in the main tank for about 5 days, and is still adjusting. It is eating and sometimes ventures out from behind the spraybar, but never too far. I think it's new tank jitters personaly. Irish is just being a concerned mommy. We'll get some pictures up for an I.D. though and we appriciate the help!

OK, first off start feeding him Protein, Angels are more of a carnivore/predator versus veggie eater. Feed him a good Tetramin flake, frozen brine shrimp, earthworm flakes Etc.
And get that heat up to more like 80.
Ill bet you see a change in him immediately.

Here's an old article I wrote on angels, may give you a little insight.........
