Default are eels oddballs?

I am just wondering, I have a pea**** eel in my tank, and i never see him. I know he is alive, he does stick his nose out almost everyday, I think he knows if does not poke his head out i will dig him up to see if he is alive
I understand there night guys, and I dont worry that he is eating he must be to still be alive, but he never comes out. Even when I am up all night walking the floors with my infant, I dont see him. any idea on how to coax him out? Get him to be a bit more active? I have no idea how big he is by now. the temp in the tank is about 78F. the tanks cycled, his tank mates are 3 tigar barbs, one catfish, one bala shark, 2 gold gormies. and a common pleaco. I also want to get more fish, and recomdations? it's a 60g tank is it fully stocked? or is there room for more?

Your eel is considered an oddball, but his hiding all the time is quite normal for him. You might try coaxing him out with some bloodworms in the front of the tank.

As for recommendations, how big is the catfish, bala shark, gouramis and common plec?

My fresh water eels hide too that is what eels do. They are not active fish. They eat what comes to them. I call it stealth mode hunting. they eat everything such as shrimp pellets and live, blood worms, brine dry and live and live black worms are their favorite. they will not come out for anything but will eat it if it floats to them.
