killifish and south american cichlids?

hey everyone ill be setting up a 33 long in a couple months, i already have a 10 gallon with 2 bolivian rams and a checkerboard cichlid that are doing fine. (see signature) I am trying to decide what i want in advance in terms of fish and plants. I love live plants and plan on having a heavily planted tank, i know nothing about killifish and i always see them and think theyre gorgeous. I was doing some research on SA killifish to try and find something that might be compatible with my rams. Does anyone have any suggestions for a south american setup? What can you guys tell me about the peruvian longfin (Aphyolebias peruensis ) they look like beautiful fish and seem like they might work. I was gonna also gonna have two schools of smaller fish in there not sure yet, maybe a pair of livebearers too. thanks in advance guys.

Hmmmm it really depends on the killie because some are annual killies and have a short life span.. I have some Golden Wonder Killifish in my 29 with a pair of kribs and i havent really had any problems....

According to http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/Spec...y.php?id=11884, that fish is hard to keep in captivity. This site mentions a few easy to keep killifish: http://www.elmersaquarium.com/10killiefish.htm. The first and second ones are sweet. They had the first kind at The Pet Shanty.
I was really interested in killies for a long time but eventually got dissuaded by a breeder who told me they should be kept as breeding pairs in 5 gallon tank. He also told me that they'd be hard to take care of. I think i might consider giving it a try with my 55.

that first site was were i first found info about the longfin in the first place, and i am cautious when it comes to annuals. I plan on having schooling fish too, im a big fan of leapord danios and also flame tetras. Not sure yet but any specific species that can be recommended that are not annuals and get nice color/fin length. I realize that keeping danios with long finned fish can be risky but hopefully a big enough school will keep them busy.
