![]() Scientific name: Fundulus zebrinus Common name: Plains killifish, Zebra killifish Size: 3-4 inches Not too aggressive, some aggression do show between males. Distribution: Mississippi River and Gulf Slope basins in the US from northern central Montana to central Wyoming and south to Colorado River, Brazos River, Galveston Bay and Rio Grande drainages in Texas. (quote from here http://filaman.ifm-geomar.de/Summary...sname=zebrinus) they also found in Dallas, Texas area Difficulty: not so hard too keep, but with low oxygen level will die quickly. they are from fast flowing stream after all. Tank: 10 gallon is good for 2-3 of them Activity level: they eat everything Activity level: pretty active fish Tankmates: other US native fish from same region such as Gambusia sp. Breeding: I don't really know, but i guess they breed in typical killifish style. i think warmer water will help they breed as it simulates warm up in spring and summer. Water conditions: can live with most of the water condition as long as not extreme. the photo above is not mine. ed took the photo and i use it here. i did caught those fish in another collecting trip though. plus someone help me resize the picture... thanks. |
