Default Freshwater Crayfish (in progress)

-IN PROGRESS-

Name: Freshwater Crayfish

Scientific name: (no specific name applicable)

DISTRIBUTION- More than half of the 600-plus species of crayfish are found in North America (very widely distributed, including places such as the Mississippi River Basin and the states of Louisiana, Alabama, Kentucky, etc.). Crayfish also live in Europe, East Asia, New Zealand, and in many islands throughout the world.

HABITAT- The crayfish this article refers to only live in freshwater habitats, although they do have a saltwater equivalent (the Lobster). Crayfish tend to live in the following conditions: permanent areas of water deep enough not to freeze solid in winter and which have a fair amount of oxygen, including lakes, rivers, streams, marshes and ponds. Crayfish are almost always found in areas that include rocks, logs, or dense vegetation (all of which help them hide from predators).

SIZE- The average species of crayfish doesn’t get much bigger than 5 inches (12.5 centimeters) maximum, and in the wild is usually found at about 2 ½ inches.(6 ½ centimeters). However, certain species of crayfish are capable of growing to over 1 foot (30 ½ centimeters).

---Obviously I'm still working on this... Any suggestions so far?---
