Nice! Looks better than my tanks (i'm REALLY poor XD).
I wouldn't suggest the hawkfish for that small of a tank, but it looks okay atm. Also, be careful with the asterina stars, they're known to munch on corals in some cases.

The hawkfish species that I have gets no larger than about 1.5 to 2 inch. Yes, a bigger tank is always suggested. As for the asterina...that eating coral thing hasn't been proven actually. I have heard that before though. I have kept an eye on them and they (was he...now they) have been in there from day one. They don't hang out on my coral. Thanks for the input and the compliment. = ) Zoe--- Yep 'twas you!!!! LOL Thanks for the compiment on my Zoas. I love them. I am saving a spot for some Pink Zombies. Can't seem to get any frags though. = ) |

How do your zoas do under 10W? I have mine under 20W, and I feel like my lighting is low, but if yours are looking so good under 10W...

Mine do great. You have to remember, I have 10 watts over 2.5 gal. That's about 4 watts per gallon. My tank is 1/4 the size of yours and not as deep so the light doesn't have too far to go. 20 watts over 8 gal is 2.5 watts per gallon. I don't know what you should have for 8 gal. Maybe someone who knows more about lighting could chime in. = )
Do you have pics of your tank? |

Lol no problem. I've actually heard of a few cases (not nothing to actually freak over) that were proven, so I was just throwing it out there. Just some small posts about them eating on certain soft corals. As for the hawkfish, I don't really like them in any small tank to begin with, but yours looks pretty okay in there like I said. I've also heard of certain hawkfish getting 2-3 inches, while they actually get 5 XD
Still love the tank though. I'm too poor for anymore corals lol.

A while ago... maybe 10 years? Their slogan used to be "The one with the peanut on top"...
They wrote me back and told me that they determined that the people wasn't important to people

Flamingo- yeah they are better in bigger tanks. One downfall to having one in such a small tank is that it ate ever pod in there. Except, I imagine, whatever is living in my filters. When I bought the hawkfish, my lfs said it could get 3-5 inches and we agreed that I would trade it in for something else should it grow at all really. But since, I have done a bit of research on that particular species of hawkfish and everything I could find says 1.5-2 inches or up to 3 inches. We shall see. = ) If he grows he goes. I'll maybe get a yellow clown goby then. Or maybe no fish at all. I like him alot because he's got alot of personality. He watches my every move.
Zoe - I vaguely remember that slogan, nw that you mention it. Maybe that was in my peanut butterless years. I did go through a period of time when I don't think I ate an ounce of peanut butter. I think it was because my oldest daughter is so allergic, I just didn't bother keeping it in the house....but she's 18 now and I don't worry about her getting into it. LOL |
