What kind of green algea (hair, slime, macro)? What kind of water are you using (O.R.water, tap) since some water sources will put in nutrients to help them buggers bloom. Lighting and duration?
By changing one thing might be enough but most of the time major tune up is required (moving tank away from window, better water) I might be able to suggest a plan if you mention a bit more info. |

It is a hairy type of algae, it is like a greenish brown. I used tap water, with reef crystals for my salt mix. I feed my fish once at night, i have damsels, gobys, clowns, green chromis, cleaner fish, hermit crabs, two star fish, and one snowflake eel. It is a 55 gallon tank im using a 303 fuval for my filtration and i also have a protine skimmer. Need more info let me know, Otherwise please give more suggestions.THANKS

Sounds like you have a few problems. First off you use tap water (which often has a lot of access nutrients in it). I'd go get RO/DI water from your lfs or distilled water from walmart and use that. Also it sounds like you have a highly stocked tank. One of each would be about right with saltwater, not multiples. Filtration sounds alright but I'd use more liverock and lose the fluval and add a refugium or a sump. Emerald Crabs will love hair algae usually, but I'd get rid of some fish and/or switch to RO/DI water ect.
