I believe it has happened, but you usually don't want it to happen in a tank... gametes are pollution in an enclosed system... ewww

Cool I just wanted to know FF but I understand your opinion. So then would you possibly have a new coral colony growing in your filter material?

Maybe so, but of course they wouldn't make it there for very long. The little larvae scoot around all over the tank, and if they manage to avoid being eaten or filtered, they will settle down & attach to a rock, or to something less convenient, and start to develop into tiny baby corals.

So sexual reproduction of coral in a household tank is very unlikely to succed
