Default acclimation/ quarantine

i know its important to acclimate stuff, just wondering if the drip method is ok for corals, or should i quarantine them?
and how long should i quarantine fish?
AND what about inverts? drip method or quarantine?

Drip is always best. Corals don't need as much, If any, as Fish do. Some QT them but not many. Best thing to do is a quick, Fresh RO/DI water dip for them to rid them of any Flatworms.

Fish should always be in QT for 4 weeks to ensure the life cycle of any parasites is done. I use Copper on all my fish! (WARNING!!! COPPER KILLS INVERTABRATES!!!)

Always drip Inverts.....Especially Starfish. Some, if not most Starfish require a slow acclimation and should be done over a period of "Hours". I do not QT inverts.

ok, so a simple drip period for any corals and inverts, and quarantine any fish is fine? thats what i was planning, when you QT fish, do you go ahead and medicate just to be safe? or do you wait and see what might pop up?

just thought of something else. when you QT fish, is it best to drip acclimate to the QT tank, keep them in there for 4 weeks, then acclimate them to the display tank again (just incase temp and SG is off just a hair?)

I always treat my fish with Copper in the QT just to be sure. Some people just wait & see. It's totally up to you on that one.

I always acclimate both ways, In and out of QT but usually just for 15 mins to be sure temps are the same. The QT water I use come out of my main tank when I do water changes so the SG is the same.

Hope that helps.

PM'd You

yep good advice here, although I also qt inverts for 5-6 weeks before they go into the main tank too.
