yea, im expecting the worst, thats how i am, if i come out ok, its even better, i have a skimmer, i also have about a ten gallon fuge that im about to pack with cheato that im gettin from mala, you can check out my set up in the users journal to kind of catch up... and salt, i know i need more rock, but a couple speeding tickets are keeping me from loading up. and im definatly not expecting miracles, was just wondering, looking for a general window, anywhere from instantly gone, to maybe 6 months?

In my 18g tank it took a few weeks for the reduction in diatoms to be noticable. Keeping that in mind I only had two leaves (is that what you call them?) of C. Taxifolia and I'm running it skimmerless. So I would expect that it should take less time than that.

anyone know if tahitian moon sand is silica based? i dont have much in there. and it already fell through the crushed coral. so my substrate is stupid all the way around. ive been thinking about trying to switch it all out, but man.... that sucks. you guys think that if im going to switch it, it would be better to do it now? while the tank is still fresh, or will it be just as much trouble no matter when i do it?

I've seen many tanks have TMS as their only substrate it actually looked outstanding! Brought out the colors in corals so much better...

If your gonna change it better to do it while your tanks got no stock in it. Just stick all the LR in a tub or something (with a powerhead and heater too if you reckon it could take a while) and swtich your sand.
