Default Mass Spawning

Has anyone herd of this occuring in a tank, if so is it common?

I've heard of it in bubbletip anemones before, said the fish looked completely scared lol.

What are you referring to though?

Because while donig a project recently I learned about the mass spawning on the barrier reef by coral and wordered if anyone has witnessed this in a tank setting.

I believe it has happened, but you usually don't want it to happen in a tank... gametes are pollution in an enclosed system... ewww

It happens all the time in well-run tanks using properly timed moon lights. In fact, that's what moon lights are FOR.

Maybe so, but of course they wouldn't make it there for very long. The little larvae scoot around all over the tank, and if they manage to avoid being eaten or filtered, they will settle down & attach to a rock, or to something less convenient, and start to develop into tiny baby corals.

So sexual reproduction of coral in a household tank is very unlikely to succed
