Sorry for all the questions. I am looking at adding some corals in the next month or so. Would this work? Are there some corals that would not work with this? I am going to be getting the 36" one. Thanks for your help. Also, my tank is only 18" deep so I dont need to worry about metal halides, correct?

What is the tank size? What type of corals? Tank setup? Inhabitants? We need more info.

78 watts over a 36" long tank is not going to be enough for almost all corals. Go for something over 200 watts and youll be able to pic from alot more. But best bet is always with MH's.

I have a 46 gallon. Still in the process of cycling with some LR and damsels. I don't have any corals yet, still in the process of getting all my information together. I would get metal halide but they seem to be a lot more expensive. Can I succeed with T-5HO? Would 200 watts be good for a 46?

I think with T5's you can either get 193 or 156 watts or something like that, but again it would depend on what you plan on keeping

If you want to create a Reef, Lighting and skimming are the 2 areas you absolutely can not play "cheap" in!

I stress my point again that lighting & skimming are the 2 areas you can NOT be cheap on with a reef. I'm not trying to be harsh here my friend. I only want you to get a good start and not have it ruined by an expensive mistake. Please, Spend the money and look at the "Current USA Outer Orbit" or Coralife Aqualight Pro" or many other Quality Retro Kits from PFO or Ice Cap.

I see thanks for your help. Do you know of any good websites I could find lights on? I checked Drfostersmith.com but did not see much that could be of use. Any other ideas?
