Looking for a decent and affordable HOB skimmer

What's a good line of HOB skimmers? I was considering the Berlin Turbo HO skimmer, but what else should I look into? This is for a 150 gallon FOWLR.

Needlewheels are good, also try for an aquac remora. Theyre great for the money, and their dependable.

EDIT: Didnt realize it was the 150 lol a remora on that wouldnt be nearly sufficient
You could go for a euro reef or an ASM, which are both great and reputable, but very expensive.

For a tank that size.....The only HOB worth it's weight in salt is the Coralife Super Skimmer 220!

With that much tank though I would add a sump and get an ASM G2 or G3 on it!

Nah, no sump. Don't have the spare change to put one together right now with that kind of skimmer. Maybe further down the road. I was planning on going with the Coralife super skimmer 220, so maybe that's what I'll go with.

Jeez, I can build my own sump/refugium for next to nothing. Find a free or cheap used tank, buy glass for baffles and get it cut free (Less than $15), Silicone ($5.00) Then a spare Pump and used overflow.....Can't get any easier or cheaper.

It really is pretty cheap, if you can find a cheap overflow box and only if you can.
I think i paid more for the overflow than i did for the tank, glass, cheato and some LR to put in it...

HOB skimmers are a waste of time and money. I got the two i had for damn near free and they lasted less than a month on my 135. both were rated for a 100.

Well reefneck, i know how to build a sump and I know what's required of it, but I'm not building one for this tank. Don't want to bother with it right now as I have all of the components of the tank now, except the skimmer. My time is occupied with building another fish tank projet which does incorporate a sump.

And Gump, I'll have to disagree with you there as I have been running a BakPak 2 on one of my tanks for over 4 years now and haven't had a single problem and know many people who have no problems running HOB. All i was asking for was a model that people had experience with and would reccomend...

Maybe it was different that i actually needed a good skimmer since it was a moray tank. If your going to have little fish then you should be okay.
