Ammonia Filter?

I was at the fish section of Wal-Mart today, and I found a filter (I cant remember the name of it) that on the box said it neutralizes ammonia and nitrites on contact. Does anyone have any expierences with this type of filter? and if it so effective makes it that way?

Well , if you have a new tank and neutralize the ammonia and nitrites, the tank isn't going to cycle, and if you use it in a cycled tank, it's gonna starve off the beneficial bacteria.
I don't see the benefit.
Trust in regular partial water changes to keep levels low IMO

They use a mineral called Zeolite. Zeolite adsorbs ammonia on contact and can quickly eliminate it from a tank. This is fine for emergencies, but otherwise not a very good idea, as BV77 said. Once the zeolite loses it's effectiveness, you'll suddenly have a bunch of ammonia in the tank and no bacteria to deal with it.
