I'm considering changing my lighting for my aquarium, but I'm not sure what to go with. I've been looking at all the 48 inch LED strips they sell for around $100, and they look nice, but then I started reading up on incandescent lighting for aquariums. I saw a couple articles and videos where people just use simple, cheap, round reflectors and then use the 6000k - 11000k spiral bulbs from the hardware store on a glass top on the tank. I must admit, the latter choice seems much cheaper, especially if I plan to set up more tanks.
Mostly I'm wondering which is going to be the best light system to promote the growth of my Vallisneria. Is one 48 inch LED strip enough? Which is going to give me the best color spectrum? Or does it just come down to preference?
There are so many different aspects to this hobby.
