I have a spare 150g tank which is going in the lounge, and I'm planning on turning into a heavily planted tank. It's going to have a substrate of eco-complete (expensive but worth it) and lots of bogwood and anchoring plants.
Fluval external filter, aqua-one CO2 large. And full spectrum UV 100w compact lighting. Fish wise, the majority of fish will be tetras. This is the stocking plan: 5 cardinals 5 glowlights 5 black neons 5 purple emporers 5 red phantoms 5 harelquin (rasboras) That's 30 fish in total, which is pretty lightly stocked considering the adult size of the fish. Because the tank's so big, hopefully they'll form their own groups and stay in their own selected areas. I'll keep this thread updated regulary. So far the tank's not even full of water.

If you have a big enough tank with enough hiding places, pH of around 7, you can keep virtually any fish together as long as all the fish are around the same size and these two groups of fish are avioded: Serrasalmus Tetradon(figure eights and dwarfs are the exception). I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families: Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers. |
