Default 125 Gallon Saltwater Reef

3/7/05 Today I found a 125 gallon tank to replace my 55 gallon and 20 gallon saltwater tanks... combining the two to form this beast of a tank. The tank tops and stand cost $300 used (some small scratches on the tank but I might be able to buff them out) I plan on making it my head board in my room for lack of room hahah. I'm doing a fishless cycle as soon as I get it set up and I'm probably going to be using argonite sand (hopefully playsand) substraight and seed some base rock with some live rock. I'm also getting a skimmer... not sure about what kind yet. Also planning on getting some compact florecents.

My stocklist includes

1 Yellow Tang - Corrine
1 Blue Tang - Bria
1 Christmas Wrasse - Tiki
1 True Percula Clownfish - Odysseus
2 Firefish - Aries, Tessa
1 Royal Gramma - Roxy
1 Flame Angel - don't have yet
12 Hermits
1 Green Serpant Star
2 Cleaner Shrimp
90lbs base rock
20lbs live rock
some mushrooms leather corals, and eventually an anemone

3/10/05 Looking for a skimmer is harder than expected... I don't want a cheap one that doesn't work but I don't want a very expensive one thats overkill.

I bought the skimmer from Liveaquaria.com should be here next week. It was a seaclone made for 150 gallons... should be sufficent. If I'm not satisfied I should be able to return it.

The skimmer came today, can't wait to open the box and figure it out. Going to buy the tank and stand tomorrow... then moving it over spring break.

Cleared out a spot for it in the basement of the rents house since it wouldn't fit anywhere in my apartment. I'm moving back there for the summer so I'll be able to work on it.

I bought 50 lbs of tropical play sand, they only had one bag of the stuff I needed so I gotta go back to home depot when they get a new shipment in. My tank comes tomorrow, I can't wait now.

Got water and sand in it, its pretty cloudy but it should settle. Now I will be making mods on the stand so it looks good.

Decided to build my own stand this summer, the one I bought wasn't as saveable as I once thought. We supported it with some 2X4's and is waiting for the tank to be put on it. This weekend I'll be putting it on there and throwing in another 50lbs of sand. Also getting ready for base and live rock to go in.

some inverts are in, 1 brittle star, 6 hermits, and whatever hitch hikers came with the 60lbs of liverock... I'm trapping this week to make sure no mantis is to be found!

it becomes a reef. Picked up some corals at the frag swap. All doing good after a couple weeks. Fish in after 3 weeks.
