Crap. I don't have a QT tank. I could pick up a 5.5-gal and small filter tomorrow, and fill it with media and water from my main tank. Would that be sufficient? Maybe I can see if they have Bio-Spira at the LFS. How's that?

Yeah that'll work fine. I have a HOB filter with two sponge filters and fiberfill between them... it's pretty easy to just pull out one of the sponges and put it in a new tank.
